Top 8 Drinking Establishments That Aren’t Downtown
I hate the bars in downtown Cincinnati, they charge way too much for a beer and if you stay out too late you run the risk of getting shot. I’d rather be in the cozy hometown bars outside of downtown. You never have to wait in line to get into one of these bars.
8.) Crosley’s - If you ever want to go to a place that is as close to Cheer’s as you legally can get, this is the place. You have to walk DOWN the stairs to get in, and as you walk in you are greeted by everyone there. Plus, my buddy Dan is a bartender and he always has cold beer on tap.
7.) Buffalo Joe’s - The first place in town that I have been to that serves beer in mason jars. How cool is that? The beers are cheap and the wings are extra sloppy and full of yummy garlic.
6.) Beaches - Right across from the Colerain Township Fire Department, it looks small on the outside but it looks great on the inside. It reminds me of the bars that are near the beach, but then again I guess that’s why they call the place Beaches……. Palm branches all over the place and a little stage for local bands to perform on. Extra Plus: it’s well within walking distance from my house.
5.) Animations - A couple of pool tables and a dart board….that’s about it, but the atmosphere is really cool. Ryan and I got our asses beat in pool by some lady that looked like a hustler. Go figure.
4.) The Budna - Back in the old ‘Hood, right in the middle of North College Hill, right next to St. Margaret Mary church. Another Cheers ‘esque bar, but if you live(d) in NCH you know everyone there. I always run into the Bucalo Triplets……Those guys can drink some beer!
3.) Murphy’s Irish Pub - Ahh Clifton……St. Patrick’s Day…….Pub Crawl……Monday night……Tuesday Night……Wednesday night…..I think I have a problem. All the cool kids from UC hang out at Murphy’s. During Pub Crawl we would always end here and spend several hours trying to sober up enough to walk up the hill to Jimmy John’s or Penn Station and then home. Their St. Patty’s Day party is supposed to be pretty wild….I wouldn’t know, I can’t remember.
2.) Rick’s Tavern - Rick’s is becoming more and more commercialized and it’s great for their business, but the place is always packed now. They bring in Bengals players all the time and have the guys from 700 WLW broadcast from there. The place is huge and there is always a nice mix of people there. Their food is excellent too.
1.) The Back Porch Saloon - An indoor and an outdoor tiki bar, 6 permanent Cornhole sets, poker tournaments every week, horseshoes and 2 volleyball courts….awesome. The Back Porch is pretty big, but most of it is outdoors, so it’s really open and when it’s nice out you can spend hours just sitting there doing nothing. I really like this place and everyone should go check it out at least once. You can tell them Scott sent you, but they won’t give you anything.
Sorry all you West and East siders, I tend to stay close to home when I got out drinkin. Does anybody wanna go out drinking with me?

Nice suggestions, I’ve been to 2 bars listed, both are great recommendations. Tell Dan I said howdy! Perhaps you should stop by a couple bars in the Oakly - Hyde Park area. It’s a fun time!
